Watch out for those "lower" gas rates

To whom it may concern:

I am a customer of Columbia Gas and over the past couple months I have received literature in the mail from competing gas companies advertising their "competitive" gas rate and asking me for my business. These rates were significantly lower than Columbia's as much as 30% in some cases. Because of these great differences I was skeptical, yet interested. It was not until I did further research that I realized that the competitors' rates and Columbia's rate were two different prices. The competitor's rate was the recovery rate, and did not include the transportation cost; whereas the Columbia rate was the recovery and transportation cost. I find this to be misleading and not forthcoming on the part of Columbia's competitors. I am writing this to make PUCO aware of this false advertisement and implore the commission to discourage this practice. I would also like to thank PUCO for having an easy online calculator helping me make my energy supply decisions.
