World AIDS Day
It was World AIDS Day and we volunteered for the event in Mandeville, which had guest speakers, free 15 minute AIDS tests, diabetes and blood pressure tests for a nominal fee of J$100 (~US$1.50) and condom demonstrations. It was good to see an openness of encouraging condom use while promoting abstinence and getting tested to determine his/her status.
We've had a busy week as we got a little kitten. Her name is Lucy and interesting enough she looks awfully a lot like our last cat Lily. We hope that she can kill the mice in our place - she's already gotten a big grasshopper and a lizard.
I also learned how to sharpen my machete properly and we baked peanut butter cookies in our oven-less kitchen. We used a dutch oven, where you place a pan on top of two tuna cans inside a big pot and heat it as you normally would. This way the pan does not come in direct contact with the fire and the cookies are being "baked" via convection.

Dutch oven, there are many great recipes you can use in a dutch oven. The old cowboys cooked most meals in a dutch oven. Cornbread and whatnot. Actually the flavor is the food is better b/c it is not all cooked out, the indirect heat is a better cooking method.

I think she is beyond help, but the funny thing is this......we all knew what she was trying to say, even without any punctuation.
