How do you know you're integrated in your community in Jamaica? The neighbor pikni douse you with flour for your birthday. Yes, evidently it is a tradition here to douse your friends with flour on their b-day. Don't worry I sought my revenge. No worries, it was all in good fun.
Also, on my birthday I was able to treat my wife and myself to 9 holes of golf at the Manchester Club - the oldest course in the Caribbean. I was a bit rusty as it was my first round in 9 months. It felt good to get out and play, even if I had to play in my chocos (the first time I ever had to play in sandals). It certainly was a game of firsts. It was also my first time playing on course that had bamboo on it. This was particularly challenging on the 7th hole which has some very tall bamboo right off the tee. Fortunately I hit my best tee shot of the day and navigated through the bamboo. I was able to make one par and salvage a few bogeys.
The rest of the day we enjoyed some good jerked seafood at Little Ochie in Mandeville and some brownies and ice cream at home.
