Pre-Heat Box
Last week I worked feverishly trying to get our pre-heat box for our bio-diesel project completed before the Denbigh Agricultural Show. We are using the box to heat the waste vegetable oil (WVO) via solar power before we place it in the processor. The goal was to heat the oil to 110-120ºF, but during initial unofficial testing we reached 150ºF with the WVO while sitting in direct sunlight for about 2 hours. This, however, was with only one bottle being heated. We were excited nonetheless. It's quite interesting to see what the sun can do for you, especially if you know how to harness its energy. The next step is to get parts for the processor and start putting it together.
The show itself, is the biggest agricultural show on the island and is similar to a county fair in the states. There are cows, goats and sheep. Each parish also has a display in pavilions and compete with one another. It is very interesting to see the variety of fruits and vegetables on the island as well as the amount of products that can be made from them.
